"Best Friends Forever" Post #4

Characterization of Tally:
Tally is almot 16; she has frizzy hair and brown eyes.  Tally has a scar on her hand from the friendship pact she and Peris made.  She's too tall by pretty standards.  Tally is adventurous and is constantly trying new tricks.  She wants more than anything to be "pretty".

Characterization of Peris:
Peris is 16 and a new pretty.  He's been completely brainwashed through his operation to be pretty.  However, there is still a hint of him left.  His physical features are perfectly symmetrical; flawless. He is caught up in his new life and too busy to mess with Tally and her tricks.

How do you feel about the friendship of Tally and Peris?  Are they true best friends?  Why or why not?
I think on some level these two characters are still be friends.  It's a two sided friendship they share.  To me, it's like making a new friend with someone from a different culture.  Tally can't relate to all of Peris' new feelings as a "pretty" because she's got no idea what it's like.  Peris too has had the "ugly" part of him removed and can't relate to Tally any longer on that level.  I can see rays of lights of true friendship...like when Peris gets Tally out of the mansion with the fire scare.  He does still care about her and doesn't want her in trouble but can't truly relate to her any longer.
