In a world of extreme beauty, anyone normal is ugly.

"Facing the Future" Blog Post #8

Reflect on the following quotes:
“Making ourselves feel ugly is not fun.”… “This whole game is just designed to make us hate ourselves.”
OMG I can say a lot about these but I will try to keep it brief.  I relate this quote to our society as a whole (sometimes).  We're made to feel as individuals that we have to act a certain way, look a certain way, wear certain clothes and do certain things in order to be beautiful.  Why can't crazy curly hair be gorgeous and not just shiny straight hair like on the commercials.  Why can't short people be considered beautiful, why are all models 5'10"??

“Everyone judged everyone else based on their appearance. People who were taller got better jobs…people killed one another over stuff like having different skin color.” (referring to when everyone was ugly)
Think about this carefully, we are judged on EVERYTHING.  Think about the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s.  People then, and now, out and out kill each other based on skin color.  You can't tell me that you go in on a job interview and are dressed in a business suit and someone comes in after you in jeans that the person in jeans is going to get the job.  People, sadly, don't judge based on the inside.

“It’s the only way to make people equal.” (becoming pretty)
If there is a process that allows everyone to be identical, there's nothing to debate about.  However, this also takes away individualism and things that make you, YOU!
